Lillian C. Goldberg was born in Canada on June 27, 1915 and came to Denver at the age of seven. While as a student at North High School, she began doing fashion illustrations for local department stores. She later turned from commercial art to fine art. 

Lillian was married to Ralph Goldberg, proprietor of Sunlight Metal Products, and they had three children: Dr. Stephen Goldberg, artist Lesleigh Goldberg and Beverly Goldberg-Caffe.
