University of Denver students began organizing around divestment of DU investments from fossil fuels in 2014. Students protested during Chancellor Chopp’s inauguration, staging themselves on the Driscoll Bridge so that the full inauguration procession had to pass by them.

Despite continued pressure, in 2017 the Board opted to pursue alternative sustainability measures. DivestDU remains undeterred, and continues to advocate and organize for divestment.
