Weaver played with interaction and interactivity by linking two of his instalaltions in the library space. In Birds in the Stairwell, when Weaver paused his page turning on extinct or threatened birds, the video display located in the stacks simultaneously showed details of lost species coming into focus, while audio of a single bird chirp gave way to many cries from the surviving members of birds related to these extinct species.

Once paging resumed, the Sounds in the Stacks installation displayed an overview of lost habitat synced with computer-generated audio based on human cryptochromic or light-sensitive proteins. Weaver suggested that these proteins sense time and light and may spur the human drive for territoriality.
