Woodstock West: Day 7

4:00 AM

Police mobilize and begin to circle Woodstock West.

6:00 AM

Many people have left, but several hundred remain. After having the restraining order read to them and understanding the consequences, about 25 participants agree to be arrested rather than leave.

8:00 AM

Police begin tearing down Woodstock West, and a crowd of about 1,000 watches from across Evans and grows over the course of the day to 5-7,000. Despite police moving crowds around, orders to use gas if necessary and heckling from bystanders, the situation is peaceful.

The students start building “Woodstock II” as soon as the police leave.

3:00 PM

The general faculty meeting votes to support the strike. That evening, Governor Love meets with Mitchell and informs him that if Woodstock West isn’t dispersed, he’ll call in the National Guard.
