The curators of this exhibition exploring the impacts of DU mascots and nicknames on Native American students, faculty, staff, allies, and community would like to acknowledge how their own experiences and positionalities influenced the research and development of this exhibit. Each curator approached this topic as non-Native people who identify as white women. They recognize the complex relationships between Indigenous peoples and universities, the unequal power dynamics between non-Native academics and Indigenous communities, and the exploitation of Indigenous peoples, their representations, and their lands.
